Our Pediatric Department was started in 1981. At that time it was staffed by one doctor and one registered nurse. Today, Pediatrics consists of three doctors, two full-time nurses, one part-time nurse, two medical assistants, and one Unit/Referral Coordinator.

Dr. Nancy Langhans has been a pediatrician for 15 years. She also is a specialist in Pediatric Gastroenterology. She practiced as a pediatric gastroenterologist at New England Medical Center for eight years prior to joining our staff in 1997.

Dr. Vivian Esswein has been practicing pediatric medicine for 26 years and is also a specialist in emergency medicine. She has been with the Health Center since 1993. She works both in Pediatrics and with our teen population during our Teen Clinic.

Dr. Margaret Bordeau joined the GNBCHC in 2007. She completed her residency at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, and speaks German and Spanish

Nurse Practioner:

Jacquelyn Arieta, received her degree from University of Rhode Island, College of Nursing.

Our Nurses:

Sue Choquette, LPN, has been a nurse for 29 years and has been on staff at the Health Center for 4 years.

Marilyn Viera, LPN, has been a nurse for almost 40 years and joined the Health Center staff last year.

Audrey Aurelio, LPN, has been a nurse for 30 years and has worked at the Health Center since 2005.

Our Medical Assistants

Lissette Vasquez, Estella Barros , Renata Hotysova, Nancy Jarvis, and Kristi Kowalare are responsible for keeping the physicians on schedule. They bring patients from the waiting room and obtain initial information in preparation of the child's visit with the doctor.

Our Unit Coordinator:

Kerry Chavez is our Unit/Referral Coordinator. She not only schedules patient appointments in our clinic, but she is also responsible for obtaining referrals in order to make appointments to providers outside of the Health Center.
