FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 20, 2011 Greater New Bedford Community Health Center Receives Laboratory Accreditation by COLA NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center is pleased to announce that its laboratory has met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization. COLA accredited labs must demonstrate that they apply rigid standards of quality in day to day operations and accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing. The Health Center laboratory received no citations during the rigorous on-site survey and is the only laboratory in Massachusetts receiving no citations. This is the second time that the lab has been accredited with no citations. The first time was in the 2006/2007 survey. COLA is approved by the federal government and is sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Osteopathic Association. --###--
