NEW BEDFORD -- Each year personnel from the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center nominate staff members as outstanding employees. Winners from the nominated group are then selected by the Board of Directors. Recommendations are based on several reasons including hard work, dedication, commitment to the community, and service well beyond what is required. The theme of this year’s Awards Ceremony held at the Whaling Museum, was “A Caring Heart – When You Act With Your Heart It Shows.”
Rose Yates, Board Chair, presented the honorees quoting the words of the song For Good from the Broadway play, Wicked – “Because I knew you I have been changed for good.” Those recognized this year include the dental assistant admired by her colleagues for her work and kindness, the Registration/Pharmacy Program Coordinator who wants to write for women encountering problems and difficulties, the doctor described as a champion of her patients and who wants to encourage her department “to work together to do wonderful things”, the nurse who thanked her co-workers for their support saying “it takes the best in each of us to bring out the best in all of us”, and the medical assistant who “can’t imagine being anywhere else.”
